Travel Group Opposes Quarantine for US Arrivals

  • The US Travel Association, a group made up of hotels, travel agencies, and airlines, has opposed the mandatory quarantine imposed by the Biden Administration on all US arrivals
  • On Thursday, President Joe Biden issued an executive order, directling all federal agencies to require international air travelers to quarantine upon arrival to the US
  • The administration is also implementing a requirement that all US-bound passengers aged two and over provide a negative COVID-19 test result within three days before traveling
  • Travel industry groups have said the requirement to have a negative COVID-19 test result on arrival makes the quarantine order unnecessary
  • Airlines for America, a group representing US airlines, also opposed the order, stating that testing alone was sufficient to ensure safe travel
  • Various industry groups say quarantines are not only difficult to enforce but also ineffective
